Road Trip USA Part VII: Lake Tahoe and Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Having been to Lake Tahoe before, we didn't spend a lot of time there. It is a wondrous place though. I've been lucky to snowboard at a few of the resorts in the area, including Heavenly, which is very impressive partly because of it's geographic location. It's very close to the Nevada desert, so on one side you can see down to Lake Tahoe, and on the other you can see down to the desert valley of Nevada - while you are on a snow-topped mountain! It is amazing. Lake Tahoe is also a really nice little town. I highly recommend spending some time there.

We instead drove on to a cabin owned by my man's grandparents. Among the sequoias, it is a special place. It was really lovely to make it all the way to California and have a few days to recharge in a place that felt a lot more like home than the hotels we'd been staying in. The pups had a blast frolicking around the foliage.

My man and I took some time to ourselves to take in the spectacle that is Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The place is beautiful and inspiring.
